Ok so, last night I had an interesting conversation with a few people. We were talking about Immigrants in America who come here and are able to get on their feet with grant money and start businesses that in turn make them very successful while us Americans are struggling. Me and everyone in the room had strong opinions about this. Half the room said it's not fair that the Immigrants can come get food stamps, medicaid and job placement to get on their feet, and we have to jump through hoops in order to get those benefits and yet we are the ones who are struggling. I said to them, it's not the Immigrants' fault, and to be honest, I don't believe their argument holds water. HEAR ME OUT... Yes they can come and get those benefits, but only after gaining citizenship. So at that point, they are one of us, and two, there are plenty of food stamps, grant money and opportunities for everyone. As a matter of fact there are so many opportunities to go around that millions if not billions of that money doesn't even get used because we don't apply for it! Why get mad at the Immigrants because they took advantage and you didn't? Now for the one's who did apply and didn't qualify for said benefits, that is a government problem. Take that up with them. Before you get mad, ask yourself this, Did you vote to change the qualifications? Have you written any letters to your state representative? What have you done besides complain and point your finger? To me, it seems that in America we are spoiled in a sense. We were born and raised here and so a lot of us know what we can do, but we don't take advantage just because. Look at it from their point of view, when all your life you wish to have the chance to make something of yourself but were never allotted the opportunity, what would you do if that opportunity revealed itself to you... GO FOR IT, right!?! It's almost like an appreciation factor if you think about it. The chance to make it means a lot more when you can see crystal clear how you could be living and not have that option. Now this is REAL TALK so don't get upset. I'm sure there are plenty of other opinions, and I welcome them all because this is really interesting. Please post, and be REAL, how do you feel about this "issue?"
